Tonight I was contacted by a subscriber of our blog to notify me of his experiences with purchasing Bel and Escort radar detectors on Ebay and his new blog.
The “Unauthorized Radar Dealer Buster” blog goal is to educate consumers and to indentify unauthorized dealers: http://badradarguys.blogspot.com/
I wish “Buster” well in his project and if you have any information about the identity of any of these “Ebay Dealers” I encourage you to post a comment either here or on “Busters” blog.

As long as the ebay seller is not putting on the front that he is an authorized dealer I am fine with that. I have bought 2 detectors off ebay, BEL v995 and a Escort 8500 X50 both never broke on me and still work today…I do know that I was stupid cause i didn’t have the warranty from the manufacture but after hearing Escort and Beltronics charge around $70 to fix detectors bought through them. I just felt better saving money.
I bought my 9500i from “Accessory Genie” on Amazon.com. They have been selling on Amazon for over 5 years and have 99.9% positive feedback from Amazon buyers. Amazon buyers total thousands more than just little small time “authorized” Escort reseller web sites.
According to Ecsort’s web site Accessory Genie is on their “unauthorized” reseller list and your warranty is void if you buy from them.
This is BS, contact this reseller, they will get your warranty authorized through their distributer who is an “authorized” reseller and you’ll have the factory warranty, while still saving $100 probably off what you’ll pay for the same new in factory sealed box everyone else is ripping you off with by charging you full MSRP.
