A few months back a Phoenix area doctor contacted me and asked if I would be interested in testing an anti photo radar flash back device that he had developed.
When I first spoke with “The Doc” I was skeptical that a device such as this would work because of my experience with the ill fated VF-2 that was sold a few years back. For those not familiar with the VF-2 it was a device similar to what I was being asked to test by “The Doc” in that that it would sense the flash from a photo enforcement camera and it would flash its strobe onto the pate, washing out the image.
The problem with the VF-2 is that it didn’t work, at least not on the photo enforcement cameras in the Phoenix metro area. And to make matters worse the unit had electrical issues where users reported damage to their cars.
But I figured what the heck, I’ll give him a shot and I’m glad that I did.
When I first “The Doc” (who will remain anonymous) at his office he explained that he had experience with professional photography and one day after receiving a photo radar citation a couple years back decided to fight back.
We then walked out to his Escalade pointing out his Escort 9500ci and his back up radar detector mounted on the visor a Valentine One.
Then he pointed out his secret weapon attached to his rear plate, the flash back device he had been working on for the last two years.
He explained that this has been his passion building it from scratch. He had tested various flash sensors, filtering devices and strobes and now was confident that his unit was 100% effective at defeating fixed photo enforcement cameras and 50% effective at defeating the mobile photo radar vans.
We then jumped into his SUV and headed out onto the 101 Loop and I-17 where he demonstrated his device first hand setting off various photo enforcement cameras along our way.
During our trek in the photo enforcement capitol of the US, Phoenix Arizona, “The Doc” explained that his device has been tested on numerous vehicles against all the photo enforcement devices in the area which included red light cameras, photo radar and fixed speed enforcement cameras and will be developing his final prototype within the coming months.
I look forward in testing the final prototype and wish him success in his dream in bringing this unit to the market place.

The funny thing is, he’s probably a Denny’s manager or something.
Seriously though, I will buy one. I am also volunteering to have a beta unit put on my car.
This product sounds great keep up the great work and watching out for us!!!I seen a device on you tube where it milked out your plate a few ns before the photo was taken did that ever go any where? Thx Roy Jeff McClarty in phx
I think you’re asking about the VF2. We tested it and found that it never worked
